Live Lines
Artist Statement
Live Lines is my way of slowing the world down.
In a time when algorithms decide what we see and who we should be, I search for something else: a genuine encounter, without filters or scripts. I draw to create connection — not only with the paper, but with the people who witness the moment.
I have struggled with connection for most of my life. Social media pushed us further apart, as if we drift past each other in parallel bubbles. We look, but no longer see. We hear, but no longer listen. We lose touch with our own human nature.
Live Lines is my response to that.
When I draw — in a café, between dancing bodies at a party, in a quiet lunchroom, or during a livestream — something emerges that we often lose in our daily rush: presence. The process is never scripted. What happens, happens. A line unfolding, a movement gaining meaning, a drawing taking shape before your eyes. Reality slips into something slightly surreal, creating a brief opening for imagination.
My hope is that when you encounter Live Lines, you experience a small pause. A breath between your thoughts. A moment in which you allow yourself to look, to feel, to wonder. Not because I want to impose a story on you, but because I want to invite you to find your own — even if it differs from mine.
Live Lines is not a project meant to be consumed passively. It is something we inhabit together. You with your questions, me with my pencils. Your world, my world.
And somewhere between the two, a space opens where we can recognize each other as human again.
Project Structure
Live Lines consists of three interconnected forms, each with its own energy, yet all driven by the same intention: creating connection through drawing in the present moment.
1. Live Lines — Live (physical performances)
These are pre-announced drawing sessions on location: cafés, studios, cultural venues, or unexpected public spaces. Visitors can watch a drawing unfold right in front of them — without preparation, without a script. An intimate and vivid form of performance drawing.
2. Live Lines — Online (YouTube & Twitch)
Every two weeks, I draw live in an online broadcast. A digital counterpart to the same experience, with a quiet pace and steady rhythm. Viewers submit words to the Random Box, which becomes the starting point for the drawing. The focus is on attention, calm, and following the lines as they find their own logic.
3. Grounded Truth (street interventions)
Short, unannounced chalk interventions in public space. They bring color, playfulness, and a moment of wonder to places where people usually rush past. This is the grounded, playful counterpart to my graphite and ink work.
All three forms belong to one growing portfolio in which every performance is documented as an autonomous artwork — and as part of the larger Live Lines series.
Inclusivity & Accessibility
Live Lines is accessible to everyone.
Although my broader artistic practice sometimes includes explicit or sensual themes, I keep Live Lines deliberately open, safe, and inviting — including for families and younger viewers.
The live performances contain no shocking imagery, no violence, no explicit sexuality, and no religious messages.
The focus is entirely on drawing, attention, and human presence.
As a parent, I believe that art should offer space without overwhelming.
I let my own daughter (5) watch the livestreams and recordings of Live Lines without hesitation, because the atmosphere is gentle, creative, and calm.
Just as my website contains doors you may choose to open or not, I ensure that Live Lines remains a place where everyone can feel welcome — regardless of age, background, or familiarity with art.
