Blog – Live Lines #4 – Drawing Something That Waited

This round, we did things a little differently.

After looking at your reactions and the data, one thing was clear: one hour feels just right.

So in this fourth episode, we limited ourselves to that hour — no more, no less — and decided the drawing would return in episode five.

The audience voted for colored pencils.

And what a joy… and what a challenge.

This was my first time using color pencils in a fully improvised drawing.

With the admin stuff out of the way, I reached for the Box.

I didn’t have many pencils, but I had color. I felt a fantasy vibe immediately — this mushroom wasn’t just a shape, it was a home. A place where little gnomes could live.

I started sketching the form and placing it on the beautiful 300-gram paper. The surface was so smooth — it pulled me in.

When I finally looked up to grab the next word, 80% of my pencils had already been used… and there were only 15 minutes left. I had fallen into deep hyper-focus. The first time that ever happened while live streaming.

I hadn’t used the blue yet — so the cone became blue. Flowing. Pouring a strange liquid down onto the mushroom, weaving a stream across the surface. It brought the drawing together. It felt right.

Some finishing touches.

Five minutes over time.

Wrapped.

I’m happy with what came out of this hour.

I had hoped to fit three words, but the mushroom got all the attention — and I don’t regret that.

I’m curious what episode #5 will bring.
